About Shana

Hi, I’m Shana—Counsellor, animal lover, late-diagnosis ADHD’er, and someone who deeply values authentic connection.

I created Firefly Counselling Services because I know how transformative it is to feel fully seen and accepted.

Just like fireflies signal with their unique light to connect with others, I believe healing begins when we can show up as our true selves and be met with understanding, curiosity, and care.

I’m a registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association (MACA) and hold a Bachelor of Human Services (Counselling). I’m also expanding my practice through training in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, where the wisdom of animals supports the therapeutic process in powerful, experiential ways.

My approach is warm, inclusive, and grounded in the principles of Gestalt therapy. Gestalt invites us into the present moment, helping us notice what is happening in our thoughts, feelings, and body so we can make sense of our experiences and find new ways of relating to ourselves and others. I also integrate evidence-based approaches such as DBT, CBT, ACT, and Solution-Focused Therapy—always tailoring the process to your unique needs.

My practice is neuroaffirming & LGBTQIA+ friendly. I work with people of all ages but have a special interest in helping young people explore their identity, navigate neurodivergence, and manage social, emotional, and mental health challenges. No matter where you are on your journey, my goal is to provide a space where you feel safe to be yourself—without judgment, without pressure, just acceptance and understanding.

I believe that even the smallest light can shine brightly in the darkness. If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d love to walk alongside you as you find your own way to shine.
